Final Fantasy XIV Rising Event Guide (2020)

Celebrating another year in Eorzea!

Right now in the world of Final Fantasy XIV, the Yo-kai Watch fever is real. Seriously, I’ve never seen so many people care about Jibanyan at once as I have this past week in Eorzea (including myself, natch). But alongside the cutesy crossover, the team at Square Enix is also running seasonal events. This summer’s Moonfire Faire ends today, so hopefully you did your dance-fueled kaiju battle already. But don’t fret if you missed out! Another event, Rising, takes its place tomorrow.

Final Fantasy 14 Rising 2020 Guide

Rising is what the team calls its anniversary event, specifically celebrating the launch of A Realm Reborn. This event overrides the original Final Fantasy XIV anniversary event, because of all the circumstances surrounding the game. This event plays out in similar fashion to most of the game’s other seasonal events, decorating the main hub cities and giving players a chance to easily earn some cool, limited items. In Rising, the theming is generally about the most recent slice of the main storyline.

Rising officially gets started on August 27, 2020, at 12:00 AM PT, and runs until 7:59 AM PT on September 14. In order to participate, you’ll need to track down J’behn Tia, who is hanging out in the Ul’dah – Steps of Nald area. His exact coordinates are “X:10.3 Y: 8.3.” He’s a snazzily-dressed cat boy, but so are most of the player characters in Final Fantasy XIV so that only narrows it down so much. Once you find J’behn, he’ll give you the Art of Glass quest. For this quest, you’ll be helping J’behn run an exhibition for his stained glass art, which depicts a “pivotal moment in history.”

The two event rewards you’ll be able to earn are the Sultana’s Seven Wall-mounted Furnishing, and the Wind-up Ardbert Minion. Ardbert was a big part of the Shadowbringers story, so it makes sense that he’s making an adorable anniversary-themed appearance. There will also be festive items (and past event rewards) available for purchase, including a bottle of “Realm Reborn Red” that’s great for photo mode, as you can see:

Finally, Square Enix dropped a cryptic hint about a “certain someone” making an appearance. We’ll let you figure out what that means when the event rolls out tomorrow! Are you excited to celebrate yet another year in the long and healthy Final fantasy XIV life cycle? Do you like the new rewards?
