Essence of Anguish Destiny 2 Guide – Eris Morn Quest

by Ginny Woo

If you’re still on that gear grind in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, then Eris Morn’s bounties aren’t a bad way to go about it. You’ll have gotten used to cleansing Essences for her already, like the Essence of Despair. However, the Essence of Anguish Destiny 2 quest is a little bit more involved than its predecessors. Here are some of our tried and true tips:

Essence of Anguish Destiny 2 Guide

The Essence of Anguish has a number of steps that you’ll have to complete as a Guardian to actually properly lay it to rest. You might be used at this point to just doing one or two activities before you’re rewarded with a piece of gear. However, you’ll have to work a little bit harder here. Here are the steps that you’ll have to go through to cleanse the Essence of Anguish:

  • Finish 3 Eris Morn bounties – you can do this in a day if you have 3,000 Glimmer to spend
  • Finish The Scarlet Keep Moon strike – completing this will get you a Tome of Obscurity, and seeking new instructions from Eris Morn will have you cracking into In The Deep
  • Find the Cryptoglyph and complete the In The Deep quest – this will involve you cracking into the Hellmouth and having to loot said Cryptoglyph. You’ll be inflicted with a debuff that will make escape harder once you’ve killed the bosses in the Crypts, but make your way out and you can complete this step if you focus more on escaping than slaughtering

Once you’ve gone through the above steps, you’re going to be able to make use of your trusty Lectern of Enchantment and ensure that the Essence of Anguish is cleansed. Your reward for going through all of those steps above is going to be the Dreambane Greaves, which is yet another piece of the Dreambane gear that you’ve been collecting. With Final Fantasy XIV, Destiny 2, and World of Warcraft on her plate, she's always got something to chat about and a sneaky guide up her sleeve. If writing's not on the cards, then she's probably drinking way too much coffee.
