DOOM Eternal is the latest entry in the high-profile first-person shooter franchise and is ready to provide fans with a plethora of adrenaline-fueled action. One significant aspect of the title that many players have been curious about is whether or not this game in the legendary series will support cross-platform play. Luckily, we have everything currently known about cross-platform play in the game covered for you.
Is DOOM Eternal Cross-Platform?
The title will not have cross-platform play enabled when it first launches. Executive Producer Marty Stratton told IGN in an interview that Bethesda made sure that there are no technical restrictions in place that would prevent the game from being able to support the ability for players from different platforms to play with each other.
“We haven’t talked too much about that publicly,” said Stratton.”We haven’t done anything technically that would prevent it, so we’d love to – we want to connect players in as many ways as possible, there’s a lot of publishing and first-party type of stuff that we need to sort out, but from a technical perspective, we’ve made sure we haven’t limited ourselves to prevent that.”
Unfortunately, players who were hoping that they would be able to play with players on all supported platforms will not be able to do so when the first-person shooter is released on the market. However, nothing is stopping Bethesda from enabling players to play with all platforms in the future if the developer is allowed to implement the popular feature.
