Does Kratos Die in God of War Ragnarok?

Kratos has seen hell more than once, but physically and metaphorically. But each time he’s managed to crawl out of the pit and live to fight another day. But when Atreus is shown the mural with his father dead in his arms, it seems like death is an inevitability for the God of War.

Kratos, in arms with several of his powerful allies, throws himself blade first against the final antagonist. Once that antagonist falls, the moment that should have led to Kratos’ death has passed. He still stands at the conclusion of Ragnarok, as does Atreus.

It’s possible that Kratos will return in later games and that his fate may change then, but the God of War series as we know it has come to its end with the God of War: Ragnarok. Atreus may see his own spinoff games, which would be unsurprising considering how much he’s been developed in the past two games and how strong he’s become in that time. But nothing is certain… other than the fact that Kratos is dead. Somehow, the old man has escaped death once again.
