Phantom Liberty will take place in the middle of the main story of Cyberpunk 2077. As such, you definitely do not want to rush to reach the end of the game before starting the DLC. Many of Cyberpunk 2077’s endings have definitive outcomes, and few leave you in a position to explore a new region of Night City. A heavily signposted point of no return includes an in-game warning when you are about to enter the endgame, so make sure you get through Phantom Liberty before crossing this point. Not only will you be locked out from playing the content, but you will also miss out on the new ending that Phantom Liberty adds.

If you choose to play through Cyberpunk 2077 from the start, you must progress a reasonable amount before taking your character into the DLC. You must reach Act 2, where you will have met Johnny Silverhand, and make your way to Pacifica, part of the 16th main mission; I Walk The Line, which is roughly ten hours into the game if you focus on only the main missions. From here, you will gain access to the DLC content.

The final option for jumping into Phantom Liberty is choosing it from the Main Menu. This will drop you at the start of the DLC with the opportunity to create a new character. This way, players can experience Phantom Liberty without running through the game from the beginning if they do not wish. However, they will miss out on all the changes coming with the Phantom Liberty release.

If you are jumping into Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time, why not find out about the three origin choices that can be selected when creating your character?
