Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Airdrops Explained

World events in Dogtown

Phantom Liberty brings tons of new content for players to try out in Cyberpunk 2077 and one of the most common events is Airdrops. These are a fresh addition to Night City that only appear in Dogtown, and I’ll explain exactly how they work so you can start collecting loot.

How to Complete Airdrops in Cyberpunk 2077

To complete an Airdrop in Phantom Liberty, you need to follow the red flares that fall from the sky in Dogtown and then hack the drop itself to steal all the loot. These drops are always preceded by a thunderous robotic sound above the area, so keep an eye on the sky when you hear the ominous sound.

When the Airdrop lands in Cyberpunk 2077, the location is entirely random. This is precisely what keeps the event fresh, and they will keep falling periodically every time you enter Dogtown. And if you decide to follow the drop, there are sub-types of events that you can encounter. Most of them involve fighting against rival gangs or scavengers.

Airdrop Types in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty:

  • Enemy Dispute – Sometimes it’s one gang and other times there are two gangs fighting. Either way, you need to kill every enemy in the area before you open up the loot box.
  • Ambush and Trap – These drops may look empty when you open up the contents, but within moments there will be enemies that swarm you.
  • Platforming – Some drops will fall in high spots where you need to climb a bit. Most of the time, this also means you won’t need to worry about enemies.
  • Story – The last type of drop will have some ties to Dogtown or bits of story and they can be any combination of the types from above.

Airdrops have some of the best loot around Dogtown, and you can collect some serious Eddies while stocking up on powerful weapons. It also doesn’t hurt to collect a handful of Crafting Components at the bottom as well.

While you’re searching each drop, make sure to pick up the Carrying Capacity Shards in Cyberpunk 2077.
