How to Complete Left Arm Depot in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Put the left arm in. Take the right arm out and shake it all about!

If you’re here, that means you’re busy with the “Guidance from Ages Past” main quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and you could be struggling to figure out solutions for the Left Arm Deport puzzle. Or, you could just be looking for a quick guide on passing the test and gaining some ground quickly in the game.

In this guide, I’ll be taking players and readers through the steps that I took to finish the brain teaser. But always keep in mind there is more than one way to complete anything in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and fooling around with Zonai Devices and Link’s abilities can benefit your gameplay in more than one way for the long haul. Here’s how to complete the Left Arm Depot in Tears of the Kingdom.

Starting the Left Arm Depot in Tears of the Kingdom

To start the Left Arm Depot, walk to the hand and interact with it. Once done, the door you just walked through will close behind you while another path that is further away from you where there is water will show the way, and the Construct’s left arm in the box will drop before you. The objective here is to get the left arm to the water and get it to float downstream to the Construct Factory.

Open the Door With the Zonai Wheels Attached to It

To open the door with the Zonai wheels attached to it, which is on your left when facing the interactive hand, hit it and let it roll all the way up so that the door can lock in the open position. Walk through the door and on the other side you’ll see a lava bridge that needs to be crossed to get to the other side.

Build a Vehicle to Cross the Lava Streams

The next step is to build a vehicle to cross the first of two lava crossings. There are two ways to pass through. There is a fast way and an extremely laborious, slow way. The quick and easy way is to detach two wheels from the door you opened with a strike and attach them to the box.

There will be a Steering Device lying on the ground as well; attach it to the box so that you can control the device you’re building. Place the build in front of the lava path, and you’ll be able to cross and make it to the other side unburned.

The other way is to take out a Zonai Hydrant, face it toward the lava, and activate it to create little square platforms. With these platforms, you’ll be able to Ultrahand a bridge to drive over. It’s a far safer method, but one that could take you about five to ten minutes longer than the first suggestion.

Top Tip: When attaching the wheels to the box, attach them as displayed in the image below. The box needs to fit on the lava platform perfectly. If the wheels are attached to the other sides of the box, it will be too big to fit on the platform.

Cross the Second Lava Path With Construct’s Left Arm

Once you’ve hit the other end of the first crossing, you’ll see the second one just to your right. This crossing is a bit trickier than the first because the lava platforms are on either side and underneath you is a short drop into the hotness.

Before going any further, detach the wheels, turn the car lengthwise (rectangularly) as displayed in the image, and then place the vehicle’s wheels just in front of the lava. The reason for turning the box lengthwise is that it can fit snugly. Leaving it the other way will cause you to drop the box into the lava and you’ll fall with it in the process.

Once placed perfectly and facing the right direction, take control of the transporter and drive over the crossing to the other side so that you can now complete the final stretch of the Left Arm Depot in Tears of the Kingdom.

Attach the Wheels to the Closed Door

For the next step, you’ll need to open the door that’s closed and has the chains hanging from it. Use the first door you opened as an example. All you need to make sure of here is that you have the wheels facing in the right direction for the door to open.

Unhinge the wheels from your box and reattach them to the blocks on the chains. In fact, one wheel will work in this case. After you’ve attached it, hit the device to activate it. The door will open, and you’ll be able to carry the box to the next room for the final step.

Use the Box as a Raft to Float Downstream

When you get to the next room, you’ll see the water from the cutscene. Walk over to the water and place the box in the water. You can do one of two things:

  1. Push the box downstream and follow it by gliding to where it will stop
  2. Get on the box, use it as a raft, and drift all the way down with the box

At the bottom, you’ll see the Construct Factory and all you need to do is walk over to the Construct with the box and place the left arm in its rightful place. Job done!
