As the title implies, Simon’s Quest is the second entry in the Castlevania series on the NES. Although it shares similarities with its predecessor, Castlevania II includes several differences. For starters, it plays more like Metroid in the sense that you’re able to explore and revisit different areas of the world. Additionally, Simon Belmont interacts with non-threatening characters who provide information, and merchants who sell items.
Interestingly enough, Castlevania II comes with a day and night cycle that affects enemies in the game. Monsters are weaker during the daytime, then become stronger and deal more damage after the sun goes down. Thankfully, you can increase Simon’s health by collecting hearts.
