The usual Fortnite life cycle involves always bringing in new additions to the game such as skins, weapons, and even temporary game modes. But once they’re gone, will some of these assets ever make a return to the Fortnite fields such as the Groot Glider?
Is the Groot Glider Returning to Fortnite In the Future?
Unfortunately, we’ll likely never see the Root Wing (popularly known as the Groot Glider) making a return to Fortnite. Originally a Battle Pass item, obtainable during Chapter 2 Season 4 at Level 42, the item has never been made available ever since, so if you haven’t obtained it and the other Groot-related items during that time back in 2020, you won’t be able to play with them again in your own account.
This has been the case for every single BP-exclusive item, be it a weapon, a character, or anything else. Different from the store collab items (which do return from time to time), these earnable items were never made available again in the game’s history. The Root Glider was a part of the 2020 Marvel collab event, so while the Marvel skins from the store can eventually see a comeback, the same can’t be said about these items.
But even if Epic Games never brought them back in the past, this doesn’t mean they can’t change their minds on this one in the future. Exclusivity is awesome and all, and it gives players a great feeling of satisfaction once they look back at what they got years ago, but money always speaks louder. It would be no surprise to see older Battle Pass items starting to return to stores in a special event or a whole new feature altogether.
While no announcements on this possibility have ever been officially made in the past, it’s not an uncommon practice for Battle Pass games to bring some previously exclusive items back after a while. And Fortnite has years of service in its back with numerous currently unobtainable items to count. If they ever feel like they could make a killing selling them again, they would probably do so.
But it probably won’t be happening for now, so don’t get your hopes up. But if you don’t want to ever miss any other soon-to-be missable item in the current season, make sure to go for missions like Korra’s so she can make your account even more valuable in the future.
