Can Kangaskhan be Shiny in Pokemon GO?  – Answered

Some Pokemon are rarer than others. And in Pokemon Go, very few Pokemon are as rare as those locked to a specific region. Kangaskhan is among those elusive few, and it can usually only be found in Australia. But if you do stumble across a Kangaskhan, there’s a chance it can be Shiny.

The odds of stumbling across this maternal Pokemon in its purple-tinted Shiny form are only 1 in 500. But did you know you don’t have to be in Australia to catch it?

Periodically, Pokemon GO will host events that will make region-locked Pokemon available to all trainers. In April 2022, trainers were able to find Kangaskhan globally during the A Mega Moment event. Likewise, they could be hatched from 7 km eggs as part of a Global Hatch Challenge.

And for a limited time, trainers can also fight Mega Kangaskhan in Mega Raids. From November 23 to November 30, Mega Kangaskhan will be a boss you and your friends of nearby trainers can tackle.

Once you complete a Mega Raid, you’ll encounter the standard Kangaskhan. Raids typically give encounters a 1 in 30 chance for a shiny to appear, making it one of the best ways to Shiny farm Kangaskhan.

While Mega Kangaskhan can be challenging, a Fighting-type Pokemon will do fantastic damage. Terrakion, Shadow Machamp, Keldeo, and Hariyama are all great Pokemon to send into the fight. Especially if they have moves like Sacred Sword or Dynamic Punch.

If you miss out on this raid, you may have to wait another year or two for Kangaskhan to appear in a global event. But if you’re impatient, you can always make an Australian friend!
