Players can gain the ability to equip these items following their completion of the first mission on the planet of Promethea. Players will gain access to Promethea following their completion of the first part of the game’s story on Pandora. You will need to be sure they have their very best gear equipped to complete this first Promethea mission. The reasoning for this is that you will have to defeat the Borderlands 3 boss of Gigamind to complete this particular quest.

Once you have taken down Gigamind, you will gain the ability to equip these items to your Borderlands 3 character. It is important to note, however, that there are class mods specific for each Vault Hunter. This means you will not be able to equip every single one you acquire during your adventures.

The class mods can be found in your inventory near your grenades and the weapons you currently have equipped. Class mods come in various rarities with the higher ones providing much more of a power boost to your Borderlands 3 character when you equip them.
