Borderlands 3 Anointed Weapons – What Are They?

So, you’re not sure what an anointed weapon is. Well, essentially, they’re not a separate rare tier of weapon. Don’t think of them as sitting above Legendary weapons or anything like that. Essentially, anointed weapons are a bit of a sidebar – they’re specifically there to enhance your existing skills and classes. As such, instead of offering you special weapon effects crafted to most situations, anointed weapons do their work best when they can enhance specific abilities that your Vault Hunter uses.

Now, if you want to get your hands on anointed weapons, it’s not quite as easy as just running around the galaxy and hoping that one will drop if you kick a box hard enough. Anointed weapons are purchases from our stalwart friend, Crazy Earl on Sanctuary III. As with pretty much everything else you can get from the nutter, you have to use Eridium to get these pieces of gear.

You’ll also be able to hit up the Proving Grounds in the end-game for anointed weapons, and ones that you pick up you will have access to in a second playthrough if desires. How anointed weapons work is that they operate on similar weapon tiers to regular guns – you can get anointed Legendary weapons. While this might be incredibly rare, the chance is still there to acquire something that packs a hell of a punch and is tailor-made to your Vault Hunter’s specific brand of mayhem and madness. Since you need Eridium to pick up these bad boys, make sure that you’re stocking up and also potentially not rolling the dice with Crazy Earl until you’ve got a particular set of skills and abilities on lockdown.

Now that you’ve got our guide to the Borderlands 3 anointed weapons, you’ll be able to net some of your own provided you’re carrying enough Eridium. Need some help with anything else in the game? We can help you out with these tips and tricks that we’ve put together for aspiring Vault Hunters:
