Staying warm in Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven is key to survival, and keeping the Furnace lit requires a steady supply of Rotburn. There are multiple ways to gather this essential resource, so here are my tips to make sure you never run out of Rotburn during the harsh winter.

Unlock the Rotburn Mine Fast

Like other major resources, you can build Rotburn mines for near infinite extraction of Rotburn at your base camp. I recommend unlocking this as soon as possible when you reach level two of the Furnace.

Here is the fastest unlock path in the Woolhaven tree:

  • Baptismal Bath (Furnace Level 1) >> Rotburn Mine (Furnace Level 2)
    • You will reach Furnace Level 2 when Winter reaches Level 2. This happens after you’ve returned the second member of the flock to Yngya, which triggers the Blizzard.

You need the following to build a Rotburn Mine:

BuildingRequired Resources
Rotburn Minex4 Stone Blocks
x8 Rotburn

Recruit Rot Followers

As you venture into The Rot, you’ll come across Rot Followers whom you can save and recruit. They have several advantages as they can’t freeze, starve, dissent, become ill, or age. However, they will automatically die in a few days after you’ve added them to the cult. When they die, they leave behind several chunks of Rot crystal-like structures, which you can mine for Rotburn.

They also work at night and don’t require any sleep. This makes them ideal for working the Rotburn Mine when the rest of the cult is asleep. You can also buy them from Helob, who sets up shop in Woolhaven:

Send Followers On Missions

Once you’ve constructed a Missionary, you can send followers on missions to gather all sorts of resources and items. Rotburn is also added to the list of possible resources they can seek out now, so make sure to send a few of your followers to gather Rotburn this way while it isn’t cold.

Target Rotburn Nodes During Crusade

Rotburn nodes only show up while you’re crusading in The Rot. If you’re running low on Rotburn, make sure to target these. You won’t have to fight any enemies, and it’s a single room with a bunch of Rot crystals.

While you’re Crusading in The Rot, you can also come across Rotburn in different chests.

Set Up Offering Statues

Offering Statues are an easy way to obtain random resources, and with Woolhaven, Rotburn has been added to the rotation. Followers will randomly drop a few bits, so be sure to set up several statues and collect the offerings regularly.

Now, you can get Rotburn at Refineries as well, but the recipes for Rotburn aren’t really worth it since they require Charged Shards. Charged Shards are valuable and harder to obtain, so it doesn’t make much sense to use them for this when there are easier ways to get Rotburn, like the methods I mentioned above.
