The Sorcerer is one of the most complicated classes in Mistfall Hunter. They are squishy, use spells that take a long time to cast, and the spells are usually hard to hit, but when used correctly, they can be one of the strongest classes in the game.

There are several builds to use, especially if you want to focus on PvP, PvE, or play around a mix of all content. Here’s a breakdown of the Sorcerer class and a few builds to follow that cater to your playstyle.

Sorcerer Class Overview in Mistfall Hunter

The Sorcerer class is one of the highest damage output classes in the game while boasting a variety of utility and control spells. Sorcerers revolve around casting spells, which take some time to cast, making the class extremely hard to use. When you start channeling or chanting spells, any attack can interrupt your casting, and if this happens a lot, you’ll almost feel like you have done absolutely nothing in certain situations. However, when the Sorcerer is used correctly, they can be the most powerful and disruptive class in any given situation.

Since there are two aspects to look out for, PvP and PvE, builds can vary depending on your playstyle and goals, making several builds viable for the Sorcerer. The key is to know your equipped spells or build and play around them.

A Sorcerer can divide teams, control enemy players or even teams, disintegrate mobs, and also be as elusive as a Shadowstrix at the same time. It just depends on what skills you are running and how you play with a team.

The Sorcerer has two main magic types: Elemental and Stardust. You’ll have to choose between these two and select up to three general or utility spells to complete your build. Here are some skill guides to follow and explanations on how to play around with the build.

Meteor Charm, Stardust Tempest, and Meteor Impact Build – Stardust Magic

In this setup, you’ll have the perfect mix of damage, synergy, and control for PvP and decent damage for PvE encounters. The goal of this build is to control the battlefield, provide support to your team, and deal damage.

Stardust Tempest is perfect for creating choke points, splitting enemy players, and helping your melee teammates engage better. The spell creates a strong tempest at a location, dealing damage and reducing the enemy’s movement speed when hit. While the damage might seem lackluster, the goal is to keep the enemies pinned down. The Storm Impact talent (buff for the Stardust Tempest), which reduces the dodge distance of enemies hit by Stardust Tempest, does all the work here.

Enemy players cannot dodge or move well when they get hit by Stardust Tempest, which helps other strong melee classes close the gap, deal damage, and execute players. If you have played any melee class in the game, you know that you are always an inch behind the enemy player between your strikes. The Stardust Tempest provides so much value, helping Shadowstrix, Mercenaries, Withered Knights, and Seers (Blasphemer) close that gap, stagger enemies, and damage enemies.

The spell provides so much utility that it is often overlooked because most players just look for damage. Yes, Stardust Tempest doesn’t have burst damage, but it isn’t the point of the skill.

For the Meteor Impact skill choice, the goal is to provide more support by adding more control by knocking up enemies, even multiple enemies at once. Meteor Impact launches three meteors in a wide but straight line, dealing massive magic damage and knocking enemies down. This “knocked down” state lasts much longer than most stuns, giving you and your team more burst windows to execute players. Apart from the amazing knockback or stun, it is also a great way to disengage.

The Stardust Arcana talent is also a must-have for all Stardust Magic builds. The talent allows you to instantly cast any long spells with a relatively short cooldown (mostly shorter than most spells without any skill cooldown reduction buffs). Since the Meteor Impact takes longer to cast, this talent is perfect to use for Meteor Impact just to get that instant knockdown on enemy players. However, you do have to pay attention to your surroundings, as each meteor that collides with an object or any obstacle destroys the meteor. The spell is good for hallways and open areas, but hard to use in obscure areas.

Meteor Charm is mainly used for energy regeneration but also acts as one of your strongest damage-dealing spells. A fully-chanted Meteor Charm packs a huge punch, and with the No Escape talent, you can hit more than one target with it as well. The combo is knocking down more than one enemy to the ground and hitting them with a fully-charged Meteor Charm. You can even use the Stardust Arcana talent to instantly cast the Meteor Charm, as it does more damage.

Swift Strike allows you to knock up enemy players with the Super Armor state, but the cooldown increases. For the Swift Strike talent, it is very niche as you are looking to fight classes that have Super Armor, which in most cases are on most teams, but there are other useful talents to play around with.

Talents:

  • Chant Guard
  • Stardust ARcana
  • Stardust Reversal
  • Storm Impact
  • No Escape
  • Vitality Chant
  • Flexible Casting
  • Ethereal (can be replaced for another preferred talent)

Affixes in order of priority:

  • Eloquence
  • Ranged/Valor
  • Fervid
  • Seamless
  • Aegis/Tenacious/Elusive

General Skills mostly depend on your playstyle and preference. Windcraft is always good for an extra controlling ability. Shadow Veil and Phantom Step are great for mobility and deception, and work well for PvP.

Fire Bolt, Deep Freeze, and Crystal Icebolt – Elemental Magic

This build might seem like the “basic” build as these skills revolve around the very first spells you learn as a Sorcerer. However, you’ll realize that it is actually very powerful once you get the talents down.

Deep Freeze and Crystal Icebolt are spells that provide a lot of control and have a fast cooldown. However, it does require you to play up close, which is the overall playstyle of the build. You want to play close against enemy players, spamming Deep Freeze to slow, do a slight knockback, and damage enemies near you. Crystal Icebolt is there to either protect you from melee combos, as a Crystal Icebolt instantly strikes an enemy when you get hit, freezing them in place. If you don’t get hit, Crystal Icebolt still fires in your current direction after a short time.

However, you are taking the Arcane Charge talent, which decreases the cooldown of your Crystal Icebolt and increases its maximum duration, making it mostly a purely defensive skill.

Your goal is to consistently do damage while providing a lot of control because of the low cooldown on these skills. Fire Bolt adds some flexibility and is crucial to dealing more damage. With the Rapid Flamestrike talent, Fire Bolt deals partial True Damage when fully-chanted, and when a fully-chanted Fire Bolt hits, it also applies a damage over time effect, giving you more damage. Fire Bolt is also faster to chant than Meteor Charm, which really makes the build very fast-paced.

This build can feel like a double-edged sword, as you might get burst down fast. However, this is where game knowledge plays a big role because you want to know how each class plays, especially the melee classes, so you know how to play around them.

It is also worth noting how Elemental Affinity or Elemental Mark works. With Elemental Magic, you apply a stack of Elemental Mark on an enemy every time you hit them with an Elemental Magic (basically any spell). When the mark reaches two stacks, it detonates all Elemental Marks on them, dealing additional Magic Damage. This is crucial to know for the main talents, as the Elemental Arcana talent applies certain effects based on the elemental type that triggered the Elemental Mark.

For example, you want to freeze the enemy using Deep Freeze, but this spell doesn’t really freeze the enemy alone. However, if you hit the enemy with a simple Fire Bolt and cast Deep Freeze, it’ll detonate the mark and freeze the player. If fire was used to detonate the mark, they will get a damage-over-time effect, separate from the fully-chanted Fire Bolt burn effect. This makes the build or playstyle way more complicated than usual.

Talents:

  • Masterful Technique
  • Elemental Arcana
  • Elemental Surge
  • Arcane Charge
  • Rapid Flamestrike
  • Enhanced Shield
  • Vitality Chant
  • Ethereal or Exhilarated Stride

Affixes in order of priority:

  • Smiting (level 4)
  • Seamless
  • Stoic
  • Aegis
  • Tenacious
  • Curse

Smiting is almost mandatory to be level 4, just so you can get the skill cooldown reduction when hitting the heads of the enemy players (critical hit) every 3 seconds. The energy recovery is also great.

For general skills, you want Arcane Armor for more survivability and Phantom Step for more mobility.
