There are three different armor types in Helldivers 2 that you can use to set your soldier up for success in the Galactic War. If you want to utilize the best type, this guide will explain the most effective ones and what they provide.
Best Armor to Use in Helldivers 2
For new players , the best armor to use is the SC-34 Infiltrator Light Armor. In general, light armor is the most effective type for your soldier in Helldivers 2 because of the speed it provides. At the end of the day, aliens can’t kill what they can’t hit. Especially against the Terminids; the only way they can kill you is if they catch up to your slower soldier. Use your Super Credits to pick this armor set up in the Acquisions tab.
Light armor is the best option for the new or average player, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find good situations to use the others. Helldivers 2 armor is split into three categories: Light, medium, and heavy. An individual armor set can have special perks that make them more enticing. However, the main difference is the stats they provide.
Armor Stats in Helldivers 2:
Armor Type | Armor Rating | Speed | Stamina Regen |
Light Armor | 75 | 525 | 113 |
Medium Armor | 100 | 500 | 100 |
Heavy Armor | 144 | 456 | 56 |
Heavy armor provides the most defense by far and can even provide perks that help with recoil. This is meant for players who are supported on the field. However, you lose a ton of stamina regeneration, and speed in the process. When the going gets tough, your squad might just use you as some convenient bait to escape.
Medium armor is the center of both worlds, but it is also the best at nothing. New Super Earth Helldivers should go big or go home, which means picking one extreme. Some players should stick to speed, and others can rely on their defense. This was all purely about base armor stats. Where Helldivers 2 shines is in it’s armor passives.
Armor Passives in Helldivers 2
Once you’ve experienced enough of Super Earth you will soon come to realize that your armor needs more of an edge, beyond just base stats. Armor passives provide players with passive abilities that are armor specific.

Once you take Armor Passives into account, the question of what armor is the best becomes more difficult. It will purely depend on your values and playstyle. If you want to go guns blazing, Democracy Protects is made for you. Whereas if you value safety above all else, Med-Kit is the way to go. You can change your armor anytime inside your Destroyer, so experiment with many builds and find your perfect Helldiver.
