When you enter the Necrotic Laboratory in the Mind Flayer Colony, you will find a lit-up console that gives you access to a brain puzzle. This Baldur’s Gate 3 brain puzzle has a unique circuit format that rewards you some extra Mind Flayer lore by the end.
How to Find the Necrotic Laboratory in the Mind Flayer Colony
You can get to the Mind Flayer Colony after fighting Ketheric Thorm on the Moonrise Towers Rooftop. You’ll need to jump down a tower located on the rooftop. This colony is located beneath the Moonrise Towers Prison, which is available in Act Two in the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
The Necrotic Laboratory is also in the Mind Flayer Colony. You can find the Necrotic Laboratory at coordinates X: 715 Y: -49.
Necrotic Laboratory Brain Puzzle Solution in BG3
The brain puzzle can be solved by connecting the different parts of the brain in the correct order, which is emotion, speech, reason, and memory. This is the order we used to ensure that none of the nodes intersected, and you can see the completed brain puzzle in the image below.
As long as you can connect all four parts of the brain, the order doesn’t necessarily matter. It’s all about following a path that makes each node and color independent. Starting with certain colors will certainly make the connections on the puzzle much easier though.
Brain Puzzle Solution in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Emotion (Yellow): Jump to the bottom node, then move to the left node, and jump to the middle circuit from there.
- Speech (Blue): Start on the node to the left, then follow the path all the way to the right to the other side.
- Reason (Purple): Take the path to the right to start, then follow the nodes up to the center circuit that leads to the other reason node.
- Memory (Green): The path should be set by this point. To make it clear though, use the node to the right and take a sharp left on the two nodes after.
When all of the parts of the brain are connected through the console circuits, the door on the other side of the room will open up. You will find another jarred brain and a Desecrated Relief that you can interact with to learn more about the Mind Flayers.
You’ll learn of the techniques that the Mind Flayers use to change people into mind flayers, along with information on True Soul tadpoles. The True Mind you find in the Necrotic Lab tells you of Lord Gortash, and how his plan involves the brains in some way3though you’re not told exactly what that is yet.
After exploring the Necrotic Laboratory of the colony, learn how you can find Zevlor in Baldur’s Gate 3.
