Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Find the Festering Cove in the Underdark

Find the fish, become a god

The Underdark is full of oddities. Robots that will gently hug you, mushrooms that communicate with dance, really mean dwarves. But one oddity that many players miss out on are the fish people, who have their own unique section of the map. Here’s how to find the Festering Cove in the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Find the Fish People in the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3

I scoured through the Underdark in my first run trying to find the elusive “fish people” I kept reading about on the internet. And while I had a general idea of where they were (near the Arcane Tower), for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out where they were.

And then, purely by observational chance, I found them on my second playthrough. So, here’s to making your journey significantly easier and less time-consuming.

The entrance to the Festering Cove, which leads to the fish people, is near the Arcane Tower’s entrance. But before you reach it Arcane Turret protected courtyard, go south.

You’ll find an open area with quite a few Torchstalk mushrooms. In this clearing, you’ll find a chasm. Approach the chasm, and you’ll see another Torchstalk mushroom on the far ledge. Shoot it before jumping to it, and you’ll find it’s essentially guarding a rock wall you can climb down into the Festering Cove.

This will lead you into the camp of the Kuo-Toa, who are hellbent on worshipping whatever vaguely pushy entity finds their domain.

And wouldn’t you know it? With the right dialogue choices, that pushy entity could be you.

Fun fact: there’s also a mushroom circle here. Mushroom circles are teleportation rings, but this only serves to bring you close to the Teahouse basement entrance, which isn’t that useful.
