There are a lot of nooks and crannies for players to explore in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, including a ton of different caverns and underwater locations. If you want to be able to experience the full breadth of Ancient Greece, you’re going to need some help breathing underwater in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. This article will show you how to find Poseidon’s Trident in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a powerful late-game spear which will unlock the ‘Breath Underwater’ engraving, which you can apply to any weapon that you can equip.
How to Find Poseidon’s Trident
The first step to learning how to breath underwater is going to be to prepare your boat. You’ll need to play through the main storyline until you unlock the Adrestia. Now, from here, you will want to travel far to the east. The kicker here, though, is that the area you’re sailing into is a high-level area, meaning that you will either need to be very sneaky—if you’re going early in the game—or wait until you reach a higher level. If you want to unlock the ‘Breath Underwater’ engraving early on, you’ll need to be sneaky and avoid all possible battles as you travel east.
Look for a small unnamed island just north of Samos. Atop this island you will find the Temple of Poseidon, a building adorned with a large statue of the Greek God himself. Along this island you’ll also find several powerful and very dangerous animals, as well as an Alpha Lion. If you’re coming to this island in the early-game hours, then you’ll need to be sneaky and avoid confrontation with the animals at all costs. Instead, sneak through and loot the chest that you find inside the temple. This is where you will find Poseidon’s Trident. Grab the item to unlock the ‘Breath Underwater’ Engraving.
Now that you’ve unlocked the Engraving, you can add it to any weapon that you already have in the game. If you’re already level 41—the required level to wield the trident—then you can go ahead and use it. Otherwise, you will need to find upgrade your gear and add it to one of the weapons that you have in your inventory. We’d suggest keeping it on something that’s relatively strong, as you’ll need to swap to it as your equipped weapon when exploring underwater.
