Assassin’s Creed 4: How to Upgrade the Jackdaw Ship

Get your naval combat ship shape with these tips to upgrade the Jackdaw!

With the release of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Ubisoft took the naval segments of AC3 and essentially made it the focus point of the new game. Sure, while you’re on land, you’ll basically enjoy classic Assassin’s Creed, but if you want to earn a decent amount of money, or even complete some of the later memories, you have to upgrade the Jackdaw, which means attacking and looting other ships. The stronger the opposing ship, the better the spoils if you can take it down. Of course, if you plan to take down stronger ships, you need a strong Jackdaw to do so.

Let’s start by going over the possible upgrades for the Jackdaw. There’s hull armor, broadside cannons, chase cannons, ram strength, round shot strength, chain shot strength, mortars, swivel strength, heavy shot strength and fire barrel strength. You also have ammunition storage for all of those weapons. Moving away from combat, you’ve got the dive bell for scavenging wrecked ships, then a variety of harpoons for whale hunting and things of that nature. With this in mind, watch the video for a more in-depth look at what it takes to make this ship a feared killing machine.
