Can You Get the Blades of Chaos in God of War?

The short answer here… yes, yes you can. The Blades of Chaos were Kratos’ primary weapon in the original God of War series, and it really should come as no surprise that they play a part in the latest chapter of his story. Of course, there are some caveats here, and they won’t replace the Leviathan Axe wholly.

How to Get the Blades of Chaos in God of War

You can only get the Blades of Chaos after reaching a specific point in the story. Once Atreus falls ill, Kratos takes the boy to Freya, the Witch. Here she tells him that she will need the heart of the bridgekeeper in Helheim in order to heal the boy. The only problem here, though, is that Helheim is a cold, cold place, and the Leviathan Axe’s frost power won’t work there. Because of this, Kratos must return to his home and don the Blades of Chaos, a weapon he swore he would never use again.

It’s a really cool way to bring the Blades of Chaos back into the picture, and the developers have done a great job of not making things feel out of place. The Blades of Chaos aren’t useful on every enemy in the game, so you’ll still find yourself using the Leviathan Axe a good bit as you continue the story and work towards the ending.
