All Thelxie Dialogue Translations in Genshin Impact

Morse code's too hard for Teyvat

The Thelxie’s Fantastic Adventures brings the namesake mechanical penguin as one of its main features. The thing is that Thelxie always speaks in Morse code, so we can’t understand what they’re saying, but not for too long.

All Thelxie Morse Code Translations

During the event, Freminet informs us that Thelxie can “respond” to certain vocal commands, but we cannot understand it due to its lack of a translation module. Its text dialogue is clearly encrypted in Morse code, but there’s an extra catch: the dialogue uses a cipher, as described by the logs inside Freminet’s Temporary Camp.

This means that after translating Thelxie’s dialogue, we must apply the cipher to see what they really meant to say. This is a -1 cipher, so A becomes Z, B becomes A, C becomes B, and so on.

Day 1

-.. -… .– -…? > DBWB (Translation) > CAVA? (After applying the cipher).

Doesn’t make sense, right? Actually it does. We’re in Fontaine, remember? A region inspired by France. Yup, Thelxie’s speaking in French! “Cava?” is actually “Ça va?”, a phrase popularly used as a greeting. Thelxie’s basically saying “How are you?” here, which is fitting for the situation.

-.. .–. -. –.- -… …. — .— ..-. > DPNQBHOJF > COMPAGNIE

This translates to “company”, most likely in the “having friends” sense judging by some of its other phrases.

Day 2

The second day only features two different Thelxie’s phrases, and they’re pretty easy to decode too.

-.. -… .– -…? > DBWB > CAVA?

Repeated twice throughout the quest. “Ça va?”, or “How are you?” again, just like on the first day.

-.- ..-. ..- -… .— -. ..-. -. -… -. -… — > KFUBJNFNBNBO > JETAIMEMAMAN

“Je t’aime maman”, which means “I love you mom”. That’s Thelxie’s response to Zuria whenever she praises him. Cute!

-… — …- ..- > TBMVU > SALUT

If you speak with Thelxie after the second quest but before the third, he greets you with “Salut!”, which in this context means “Hi!”. He’s greeting you again, but in a slightly different way.

Day 3

The third day contains the final big reveal for the event, but there’s only one “new” dialogue line from Thelxie today.

-.. -… .– -…? > DBWB > CAVA?

“How are you?” once again, said both at the starting point of the quest and during the domain challenge.

-. -… -. -… — > NBNBO > MAMAN

Poor Thelxie misses his “Mom” as soon as he enters the domain.

  • Genshin Impact Thelxie Dialogue Day 3 I Love You

-.- ..-. ..- -… .— -. ..-. -. -… -. -… — > KFUBJNFNBNBO > JETAIMEMAMAN

During the final moments, Thelxie repeats this as often as he can. “I love you, mom!” is his favorite phrase, of course.

Event Screen Animation

While you were probably dazzled by the stunning animation when you first opened the event’s screen, you may have missed some extra Morse code hidden in those brief, beautiful scenes. These are:

..-. …- — > TFVM > SEUL

Translates to “Alone”.

… ..-. .– ..-. … > SFWFS > REVER

Written as “rêver”, which means “Dream”.

-. .— … -… -.. — ..-. > NJSBDMF > MIRACLE

The most obvious one, but yeah, Thelxie (and also Freminet, in a sense) yearns for a “Miracle”.

After obtaining enough Thelxie’s badges, you get the Water Imp Prince furniture for your teapot, whose description repeats the same lines on the event’s screen in order : “Alone”, “Dream” and “Miracle”.

And that’s it for now! Thelxie’s Adventures gave us a few cool easter eggs throughout the main event of the 4.2 update, and I’m really hoping for more of these in the future. And please make Thelxie a pet next time!
