Camilla, Emblem of Revelation from Fire Emblem Fates has arrived with Hector and Soren in Wave 2 of Fire Emblem Engage’s expansion. And who isn’t happy to see this affectionate (arguably too affectionate… like weirdly affectionate), doting sister-figure arrive? Camilla is an axe-wielding, wyvern-riding warrior, capable of bringing down both a rain of magic and physical damage. And she certainly brings an interesting assortment of skills to the table. Camilla is an interesting unit whose key features involve her movement. Like, amazing movement. Engage Skill, Soar, allows any unit to move across the map as if the were a flying unit… and while it’s not an inheritable skill, it allows your tanky units to position almost anywhere. Flying units also gain an extra movement tile, giving them increased range.
But the rest of her Skills feature around Speed, critical hits, and interactions with her Dragon Vein ability. Dragon Vein is a skill also shared by Emblem Ring Corrin, Camilla’s sister, but Camilla adds new depth to it with Detoxify and Groundswell. These skills ensure that your units won’t be affected by Miasma poisoning but your opponents will, giving you valuable chip damage.
But will it be useful during campaign? Probably, but I could see it being even better in multiplayer matches, where tiles are a much more significant part of play. Just use Corrin on Veyle and Camilla on the Divine Dragon, and you’ll be able to control the area by gaining useful buffs for your team or hindering debuffs for theirs. There’s ample room for creativity here, and it will be interesting to see how Camilla plays into the meta.

- Bolt Axe: Magic Axe wielded by Emblem Camilla. Can strike close or at range.
- Lance Guard 1: If foe is equipped with a lance, the unit takes 1 less damage during combat.
- Spd/Res +2: Grants Spd +2 and Res +2
- Decisive Strike: If unit initiates combat and lands a critical, deals 5 damage to foe after combat.
- Axe Proficiency: Proficiency with axes. Required for promotion to certain classes.
- Lance Guard 2: If foe is equipped with a lance, the unit takes 2 less damage during combat.
- Detoxify: Cures poison at start of turn.
- Spd/Res +3: Grants Spd +3 and Res +3
- Lightning: Magic wielded by Emblem Camilla. If user initiates combat, attacks twice.
- Groundswell: After the unit acts or waits in flames, miasma, or similar terrain effect, unit clears effect and recovers 10 HP.
