Here comes a new challenger!

As it seems Street Fighter 6 is shaping up to be one of the best games in the long-running Capcom fighting series. Through the decades and numerous versions of this iconic arcade brawler, many fighters have passed through this franchise’s roster. In addition to the legendary Street Fighter 2 characters that always make it through, there are always new faces in almost every new edition.

Street Fighter 6 is no different, it actually brings a large number of completely new fighters, and there is a good reason for that. Chronologically, this is the first time that we have actually moved a bit on the timeline beyond the times of Street Fighter III. There are many new faces in this strange Street Fighter future, so let’s check them all out in the list below.

Brand New Characters Making Their Debut in Street Fighter 6 Base Roster

There is no doubt that the Street Fighter 6 roster will be expanded over time, through DLC and possible new versions of the game, as was the case with… well, all the mainline sequels ever! But in the list below, we’ll focus on what we currently know – all the new characters making their debut in the Street Fighter 6 launch edition.

Luke

The new main protagonist of Street Fighter? Technically, he is not a new character, as he was added in the last season of Street Fighter V, but it was more in the role of a teaser for the new game. Players will start World Tour mode as students of Luke, who seems to have a lot more experience here.

Jamie

A character inspired by the Yun and Yang brothers from Street Fighter III, the keeper of order and peace in Metro City’s Chinatown.

Manon

The description for this character says “a super model and world champion judoka”, but to me she looks like some kind of android, there’s gotta be more to her backstory.

Kimberly

You would never guess but Kimberly is actually a student of Guy, the Metro City ninja from Final Fight.

JP

Johan Pavlovich aka “JP”, seems like a final boss character, head of international NGO.

Lily

A young native girl from Mexico and a descendant of T. Hawk’s Thunderfoot tribe, Lily fights using pogamoggans along with the power of the wind.

Marisa

The most unique character so far – a jewelry designer from Italy with Greek ancestry, inspired by ancient wrestlers. Strongest woman ever in a fighting game? Might be.

These would be all the new characters available in Street Fighter 6 at launch, in addition to a lot of returning classic characters – mostly from Street Fighter 2, which makes a nice clash of the generations set up for the start of the first season of the new game.
