Achievement Hunter: BioShock Infinite

Have you conquered everything that the game has to offer? Including 1999 Mode?

BioShock Infinite has definitely set the standard for the game industry since its release just over a week ago.  Ken Levine and his team at Irrational Games have made a remarkable, imaginative effort that’s worth experiencing moment by moment, if only to see what emotional twist awaits around the corner for Booker and Elizabeth.

For our latest Achievement Hunter, we decided to explore the streets of Columbia for all the available awards within the game.  Some are relatively easy, earned by simply completing a certain section of the game.  Others are far harder to obtain, especially with the much more difficult 1999 mode that is unlocked once you beat the main game.

No matter what, though, you’ll find these awards well worth scavenging, as the game doesn’t have a dull moment going for it.  Happy hunting and, like always, watch ahead for minor spoilers with this.  (We’ve saved the story-based Achievements for last.)

So, what are the hardest Achievements to earn in the game?  Clearly the ones revolving around 1999 mode are going to be a handful, especially when it comes to finishing the game without going near a vending machine.  For that matter, mastering Vigors could also pay off for you big time, as combining them – or using them all within the game – will earn you big points.

As for the easiest ones, they come with mostly completing stages within the game, especially early ones (the tower one unlocks in a matter of minutes of starting the game) and slowly upgrading yourself.  But really, this is one of those games where you’ll invest your time and truly enjoy unlocking everything it has to offer, mainly due to the flow of the story and the sheer addiction of the action.  It really is that good, especially once you begin involving your Skyhook.  It could be your best friend in certain circumstances – even though Elizabeth has her moments too.

Whatever you do, though, don’t miss the game.  It’s a thrill ride just waiting to happen.

BioShock Infinite is available now for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
