The man behind classics such as Shenmue, Space Harrier, Out Run and Virtua Fighter is close to completing a game for smartphones by the name of Gan! Gan! Pirates.

News arrived via Andriasang, which says the title is a pirate-themed arcade-style shoot ‘em up featuring competitive and co-operative multiplayer modes. We know very little else on the game’s content as of yet.
Gan! Gan! Pirates is coming to iOS and Android this September in Japan, when or if we’ll see it we don’t yet know.
Suzuki left Sony’s R&D department back in 2009 to form his own studio YsNet with the intention of creating social and mobile titles. Its effort Shenmue City only managed a year online before being taken down in January.
