On his blog page, Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb has announced that this weekend will be a free Xbox Live Gold weekend, where all users will be able to experience online gaming, Netflix viewing and other services without laying down a dime.

Starting now and running through Monday at 1 PM EDT, you’ll be able to check out all the Xbox Live Gold services, including Netflix, Video Kinect, and premium online gaming.  He’s even gone as far as to make a few recommendations, including viewing the new Netflix series Hemlock Grove (perfect for fans of horrormeister Tim Roth) and a few online games like Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Borderlands 2.

So hop on and have a ball.  You might just want to make the upgrade when it’s all said and done.
