Writing The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD – Part 1

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

About 10 years ago, my brother and I had the honor of writing Prima’s Official Strategy Guide to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for the Nintendo GameCube. Though our old guide remains one of my favorites, I’m thrilled that the game’s upcoming HD remake for the Wii U has given me a chance to help update the guide. We’re finally able to give The Wind Waker the hardcover Zelda guide treatment it deserves!

The Wind Waker HD is nothing short of breathtaking. Romping around Link’s world in glorious high definition is simply a sensory delight. Even after a solid week of playing, I’m still being regularly wowed by The Wind Waker HD’s vibrant visuals. It’s like someone discovered the Triforce of Beauty!

The enhanced HD graphics aren’t The Wind Waker HD’s only improvements, mind you. Though its nuts and bolts remain largely intact, many of the game’s rougher edges have been subtly smoothed, making it even more approachable than the original GameCube release. The new Swift Sail is a welcome addition, for instance, as it lets you surf the Great Sea at great speeds without ever having to shift the wind.

I had imagined that updating our Wind Waker guide would be one of those “looking back” experiences that always makes me feel old, but as it turns out, it’s actually making me feel like a kid again. This is a timeless game, and I couldn’t be happier to see it reborn. I just wish that I, too, could look twice as good as I do now 10 years down the road!

This guide is inlcuded in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda Box Set. Quantities are limited, don’t miss out! The Legend of Zelda Box Set is available at these retailers:
