World of Warcraft Shadowlands Xbox Series X Rating Spotted

But the developers say it's just an error.

There have been rumors for quite some time now that World of Warcraft would be making the jump from PC to console, rumors that were given more validity when controller support was added. While Blizzard assures PC players that this move isn’t happening, a new rating for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion has been found specifically for the Xbox Series X system.

The upcoming World of Warcraft Shadowlands expansion is dropping soon, but according to a new rating found by the Brazil classification agency, it will also be making its way to Xbox.

Though the new listing had many excited that the community could grow beyond PC, a Blizzard representative reached out to WindowsCentral to clarify: ‘We currently have no plans to bring World of Warcraft or World of Warcraft: Shadowlands to Xbox Series X. The platform was listed on the Brazil Ministry of Justice rating website in error, and the entry has since been updated to reflect that the game is coming only to PC.”

While that should be the end of that, the team also mentioned previously when Overwatch 2 rumors were abound that they weren’t “considering” a sequel at this time, despite an announcement for just that in the same year. At this point, however, we must take the developer at their word until an official announcement is made.

World of Warcraft has been a success on PC for decades and the player base has remained loyal through countless expansions. While some games of this scope haven’t made the leap to console gracefully due to specific ingrained mechanics, it’s possible to tweak the UI setup to fit the console setting if the team tried but would it be worth it?
