Blizzard just released a reveal teaser for an upcoming World of Warcraft animated series called Shadowlands Afterlives and a full reveal will be making its official debut later this week during GamesCom.

Shadowlands Afterlives is a first for Blizzard, an animated series by the company that will set up the Shadowlands expansion for the popular MMORPG dropping later this year. The full reveal is slated for this Thursday, August 27, at 11 AM PT, which is great considering that the teaser trailer honors its name of just being a teaser:

"Just as our choices determine who we are in life – they pave the paths we take in the afterlife. Prepare to delve into four realms of the Shadowlands – Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth – and discover the journeys souls take once they cross the eternal veil," reads the official synopsis for the new animated series, though Blizzard promises an in-depth look at what this new show will have to offer later this week.

Between this and the recent trailer for the Dragon's Dogma anime, animated takes seem to be the way to go and as a long-time World of Warcraft fan since Vanilla, I'm personally excited to see where this show takes fans and how it will complement the game itself.

The upcoming Shadowlands expansion is going to take the game in a much darker place than ever before and the betrayal seen from the Horde side will come to a head with Sylvanas and her journey for power. With new locations, vampire parties, and a haunting new story, Afterlives looks to set the stage for players itching for a new adventure.

As for the new expansion, we, unfortunately, don't have a set release date quite yet for World of Warcraft Shadowlands but we do know it is slated for later this year in the Fall! Be sure to also check out our Game Hub for more news about all things World of Warcraft.
