It was mere days ago that Neopets fans were celebrating the World of Neopets announcement regarding the new team, updates, and many other long needed changes to the website. World of Neopets made a lot of promises, and with an investment of four million dollars, it seemed likely that this could be the turning point that would help Neopets become successful once more. World of Neopets has moved faster than anticipated and today launched a new Neopets homepage.
Neopets Launches New Look Homepage
As soon as you visit the homepage, you will be greeted with a popup that explains the new layout to you. The new landing page acts as a hub for all things Neopets, as opposed to being the main Neopets website itself. It links to Neopets, Faerie’s Hope, Island Builders, World of Neopets, merchandise, and news.

Whilst the consolidation of all of the different games under the Neopets IP make sense, many players are upset that the flagship website is now not instantly accessible upon navigating to the traditional link. Now one has to first visit this page and then click Neopets in the navigation bar.
The launch of the new homepage has not been without issue though. As of the time of writing, many users have reported that navigating around the flagship site has been quite difficult with many links redirecting them to the main hub, as well as opening new tabs consistently. The World of Neopets team have moved quickly since their initial announcement, and if they continue at the same speed, these issues should be rectified before long.
It will remain to be seen what happens to Neopets going forward. Long time fans of the website are reluctant to see it changed and would prefer it to stay the same with improved functionality. World of Neopets will want to explore new ideas to make the IP profitable, and so seeing how these two fundamentally different desires for Neopets come together will be interesting.
