Original article: Fortnite Season 6 is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, September 25. This makes sense, as Tuesdays are usually when major updates are applied to Fortnite. You still have some time to complete your Season 5 Battle Pass and unlock the Ragnarok skin, so be sure to finish up any last-minute challenges you might still have. Also, check to see whether your Epic Games launcher has auto updates enabled to ensure you can begin downloading the Season 6 update as soon as it starts.
There isn’t a clear indication as to what the Season 6 theme might be yet, which is a bit surprising considering the superhero and time-travel themes of the previous seasons were somewhat predictable thanks to numerous pre-release details and leaks.
Fortnite Season 6 seems much more mysterious, however. There are usually a series of strange events that occur leading up to the start of each season. Ahead of Season 6, a mysterious purple cube appeared on the map, closing the massive rift that once fractured the sky. The cube seemed to be alive, as it slowly began to travel across the map, crushing a newly repaired building in Tilted Towers along the way.
The cube’s trajectory ended yesterday when the cube took a final tumble into Loot Lake, where it melted over the surface. This caused the entire lake to take on the bouncy properties of the cube, giving players a new massive bounce pad to enjoy.
One of the final loading screen rewards for Season 5 featured an image of Brite Bomber peering into the purple cube to see a rather sinister looking version of herself, who fans have aptly dubbed the “Dark Bomber”. This suggests that perhaps some sort of inversion or role-reversal theme will be introduced next season, at least in regards to future outfits and characters. We also can’t ignore the transformation of Tomato Town and Dusty Divot into Tomato Temple and Dusty Diner, respectively. However, other than the mobile mystery cube, there hasn’t been a whole lot of new occurrences leading up to Season 6.
Perhaps the cube will make another appearance over the next few days, or maybe something else will clue players in to what Fortnite Season 6 will be about. There’s limited time left for that to happen, though, so we may need to just wait and see what Season 6 has in store.
