Weird Apex Legends Glitch Changes the Player’s Character

by Liana Ruppert

This Apex Legends glitch could definitely be considered a game-breaker if you’re firmly a one-kind-of-main sort of player. According to one player’s find, this bug changes the character the character of a teammate who repawns, which shifts away abilities and could potentially make or break a team dynamic.

Ever since the new map and new hero Crypto arrived, Respawn’s free-to-play battle royale game has been rife with issues. That’s not to say it’s not fun – it definitely is – but definitely requires a lot more attention from the dev team working to keep the game operable.

As for this weird character-swapping bug, one Redditor took to the game’s subreddit to share a clip of this bug in action. In the clip below, Octane can be see respawning as Gibraltar – something that wasn’t supposed to happen:

Given that Respawn is known for being very active in the game’s subreddit, we’re sure a hotfix is coming soon. For now, the bug is pretty funny as long as it’s not happening to you. Some commenters mentioned that this glitch could happen if a player hits the escape button on a keyboard during the respawn process, but honestly? It shouldn’t happen at all so let’s get that patch rolling out, Respawn!

As for Apex Legends itself, the game is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Still, no Nintendo Switch release in the cards, though we’re remaining hopeful following Fortnite’s major success on the hybrid platform.
