Last year, Sega announced an initiative to re-release some of their greatest fighting and action hits on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, a promise they started to fulfill with the release of Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters a few weeks back. However, that appears to be as far as they’ll go…
Sega has confirmed today that the remaining two games, Virtual On and Virtua Striker 2, will release in Japan for both XBLA and PSN on February 13th…but won’t be coming to the U.S. market at all.
It’s not entirely the end of the world, as a Virtual On game was previously released on XBLA, and those with a Japanese PlayStation account can easily download the games into their U.S. library with very little problem. Still, it would’ve been nice for these games to have been given a better promotional push here – especially with improved online play.
Meanwhile, you can still check out the three fighting games on both services now, for only $5 apiece. At least you have those.
