Modders are known for doing some really cool things when they put their minds to it. When one Nintendo Switch owner decided they missed the good ‘ol fashioned Xbox experience, they decided to combine the best of both worlds and the result is actually pretty darn nifty.

First spotted over on the Nintendo Reddit boards, YouTuber ‘Voxel9 shared a video of the original Xbox emulator working pretty impressively on the hybrid console from Nintendo. According to the hacker, “XQEMU successfully compiles and runs on a Nintendo Switch running the new updated Linux4Tegra Ubuntu.

“More specifically, I’m running mborgerson’s performance WIP branch, as it currently contains some much more faster optimizations than the master XQEMU branch. For those wondering what exactly I was using for input, I had to use a PS4 controller, as joy-cons connected as a pair don’t appear to have an SDL2 gamepad mapping for them, making them undetectable by the emulator.”

In the video at the top of the article, you can see the YouTuber showing off some Jet Set Radio action, though definitely not without difficulty. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to try it out for myself, but I am a huge sucker for this type of gaming project so I couldn’t just not share it with the world when I saw it while perusing the web.

Thoughts on the latest emulation project? With so many surprise third-party ports, even the wildest games could eventually make their way over to Nintendo. Any particular dream port you have in mind? Hit us with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames.
