What’s in a name? A lot more than you think, especially if you’re Ubisoft.
The company has revealed today that two of its hottest franchises from the previous year are doing quite well on the market, selling into the millions and guaranteeing we’ll be seeing a bit more from them in the future.
Assassin’s Creed III shipments and digital sales have gone through the roof, with over 12 million units sold, a 70 percent increase over what Revelations has done – BIG increase. And that number’s likely to pick up when the game’s first DLC, The Tyranny of King Washington, hits PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on February 19th.
Meanwhile, Far Cry 3 isn’t doing too shabby either. It’s already shipped over 4.5 million copies, between physical releases and digital releases, a huge leap from what Far Cry 2 produced years before.
Also, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Ubisoft is already planning an Assassin’s Creed follow-up for sometime in the next fiscal year. But it’ll feature an all new protagonist, in an all new era. Hey, Ubi, how about a future assassin with lasers?
Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 3 are available now.
