Ubisoft has a few competitive games on store shelves and coming soon, as we’ve seen from Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and a number of other releases. Today, the company announced The Next Level, a new series of tournaments that will be held at big gaming events. The first tournament is set to kick off this week at PAX Prime.
Speaking with Polygon, Ubisoft’s senior director of player engagement, Josh Milligan, explained what The Next Level is all about. “The analogy I draw is eSports is like the post-graduate program for gamers, and there’s nothing before it,” he said. “It’s the most advanced thing. There are a certain number of people who can really understand the details of the most intense, amazing StarCraft match, and there are a lot of other people who play games on a regular basis who don’t necessarily get into that.”
A number of games will be on hand for each tournament, with PAX Prime’s consisting of Rayman Legends, Assassin’s Creed IV, Just Dance 2014, The Crew and The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot.
Everyone can take part in the tournaments, and you could win some great prizes, including video game goodies and event travel. Be sure to stop by its booth at PAX Prime this weekend if you’re attending.
