Ubisoft Confirms Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine Delayed

COVID-19 is cited as the result for the delay.

In an earnings call, Ubisoft noted that Rainbow Six Quarantine and Far Cry 6 have been delayed. While the delay doesn’t sound all that extreme in that the games have been pushed back into 2021 (the window between April and March 2022), it is sad for gamers who were looking forward to playing one or the other on next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in early 2021.

Ubisoft Confirms Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine Delayed

Two games from Ubisoft, Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine, have been reported as delayed. Originally, Far Cry 6 was scheduled to release on February 18, 2021 while Rainbow Six Quarantine was scheduled to release sometime in 2020.

The delay for both of these games was first mentioned during a quarterly earnings call from Ubisoft and was later confirmed elsewhere including the Far Cry 6 social media channels. According to Ubisoft, the reason for the delay is COVID-19 and the push for developers to work at home.

The games will reportedly be delayed into the 2021-22 Fiscal Year which means they could release anywhere between April 2021 and March 2022. We personally don’t anticipate the games getting pushed back all the way to 2022 at this point, but at the same time, we’re not sure how far behind the development teams are for both Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine.

All in all, it’s good to get a heads up about the delay, and we hope to see both Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine release sooner rather than later. Once we hear about updated release dates for each game, we’ll be sure to share that info with you here on Prima.

If you’re unfamiliar with one game or the other, here are the descriptions for Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine.
