“Some news is just too good to wait until 115 Day,” Treyarch explained today, before officially revealing the new Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. That’s right, we finally have new information about the latest Zombies map and we couldn’t be more excited for February 4!
Treyarch Reveals New Black Ops Cold War Zombies Map, Firebase Z
A new Zombies map will be available to all players in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for free starting February 4. Unable to keep some of the details a secret any longer, Treyarch opened up about the new map in a blog post today.
While there isn’t a whole lot to go on right now, we do know a few crucial things based on the short description Treyarch provided.
“With the destruction of the WWII-era ‘Projekt Endstation’ site after investigating the otherworldly Dark Aether anomaly in Poland, Requiem now sets its focus on the latest Dark Aether outbreak side: Outpost 25, known by the code name ‘Firebase Z.’”
It’s been officially confirmed that the Dark Aether story will continue and that the new Zombies map, Firebase Z, will serve as a new Dark Aether outbreak site. If you’re hungry for more info, you’re not alone. We’re eager to know more ourselves.
Good news, you won’t have to wait until February 4 for a closer look. According to Treyarch, additional intel is coming on 115 Day tomorrow, January 15. There’s also a note to “keep an eye out for other intel out there… you never know what you might uncover” along with a black and white photo.
The photo has text on it that reads:
“M –
New omega teleportation system connects village to omega facility.
– R”
Interesting, very interesting. Even though Treyarch is sharing more info tomorrow, it’s hard to wait and not speculate on Firebase Z based on the clues shared today.
Some have been suggesting that Firebase Z could be the new Vietnam map, while others point out that even though we may get a Vietnam map at some point in the future, Firebase Z may not be it.
Should Firebase Z be set in a different location, we may see the Vietnam map follow as the next map introduced into the game. It all depends on what we find out tomorrow, and what sort of clues players will discover in Firebase Z itself.
While you’re pondering over everything Treyarch has shared about Firebase Z thus far, it’s worth noting that today marks the launch of Zombies Free Access week.
If you’re curious and looking to get caught up with where Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, game modes like Die Maschine and Cranked will be available for free to all players from now until January 21.
Onslaught will also be free, but only available to PlayStation players.
To continue with Zombies after that, you can look forward to the release of Firebase Z on February 4, two weeks after Zombies Free Access week ends. Stay tuned, as we’ll be sharing additional info about Firebase Z tomorrow as soon as Treyarch makes their 115 Day post live.
