Treyarch has confirmed that Ambush will be the next limited-time mode to follow Down But Not Out in Call of Duty’s Blackout game mode. The news comes shortly after a leak revealed Ambush on Call of Duty’s companion app for Blackout.
An image of the leaked information appeared on the Black Ops 4 subreddit in a post by Reddit user carkeys11. The leaked screenshot explains Ambush mode as a “battle of tactics” where sniper rifles and melee weapons are the only weapon options available. As such, perks such as Dead Silence, Skulker, and Outlander will be key to attaining victory in this new battle royale mode in Blackout.
Treyarch confirmed the information in the leak in a comment on the post, which begins by saying, “It’s true, Ambush is coming soon in Blackout as our next limited-time mode in Blackout—just not quite yet!”
Ambush will be available in Blackout after the current limited-time mode, Down But Not Out, concludes on January 30. “We’re planning to launch Ambush into the wild immediately afterward, so enjoy the insanity of DBNO while it’s live and let us know what you think of the redeploy system while we put the finishing touches on what’s to come.”
For players who are curious about Call of Duty’s take on battle royale but haven’t picked up the game for themselves can test the waters in Blackout’s free trial, which is currently underway on PS4, Xbox One, and PC until January 24.
