Many collectors regard the Animal Crossing Villager as an amiibo unicorn, where stumbling upon one of these beauties (even the strange-looking reprint with the giant forehead) is akin to seeing a double rainbow. According to one report, however, this is about to change in a big way.
Per Amiibo Reports, Toys R Us somehow managed to get its hands on 80,000 Villager amiibo, providing the below image is legit. If corporate evenly divides these figures among the 864 TRU stores in the United States, each location will receive 93 amiibo (we rounded up).
Naturally there’s a chance this will significantly decrease the value of the original printing. That is, unless Nintendo intentionally hooked up TRU with the big forehead Villager, thereby preserving the 2014 Villager.
Either way, it’s good to know this character will be readily available in time for Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival on the Wii U and Happy Home Designer for 3DS. Unfortunately we don’t know when TRU stores will begin selling it, so make sure you call yours to see if they know anything. For now, we’ll cross our fingers the photo’s real.
