This week saw the release of Tomb Raider, the long-awaited return of Lara Croft, this time in prequel form. The game received high marks across the board from critics, and now the gaming world has answered in kind by making it a big hit in sales.
According to global brand director Karl Stewart, one million copies of the game have sold in the first 48 hours. That’s an impressive number considering the bumpy road that the Tomb Raider franchise has been on over the years, with Underworld barely performing up to standards a few years ago. (It only sold a total of 1.5 million units and resulted in layoffs at Crystal Dynamics following its release.)
You can read the official tweet from Stewart on the sales of the game here, and follow him for good measure. In the meantime, we should have some multiplayer strategies for you soon, to give you a hand in the battle between survivors and scavengers. Word of advice – keep that bow and arrow handy.
Tomb Raider is available now for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check it out if you haven’t already.
