Witcher fans, rejoice! Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is out today on PC, introducing a new RPG adventure set in the world of The Witcher. Before you go searching for Thronebreaker on Steam, it’s important to note that the game is available exclusively via GOG.com, with the console versions arriving in December.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a single-player adventure created by none other than CD Projekt Red, the studio behind the award-winning RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In Thronebreaker, players don the armor of war-veteran Queen Meve, who rules over the kingdoms of Lyria and Rivia. When faced with a new conflict, Meve must embark on a new treacherous journey.
Thronebreaker features challenging puzzles and complex quests, where the player’s decisions can have lasting consequences. Originally planned as the campaign for CDPR’s Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, Thronebreaker eventually broke free from the competitive card game to become a separate single-player adventure, though it adopted the basic card-based battle formula for its combat mechanics.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is out now on GOG.com for $29.99. Thronebreaker will release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year on December 4, 2018. For a taste of what’s in store, be sure to check out the new Thronebreaker launch trailer above.
