The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launches in just a few days as a completely free update for existing owners of CD Projekt Red’s classic 2015 RPG. Ahead of release, CDPR has shared the estimated file size for the remaster across each platform.

This comes directly from Marcin Momot, CDPR’s Global Community and Social Media Director. Essentially, you’ll need around 45-50 GB of free space regardless of your platform.
CDPR hasn’t shared the exact storage requirement for each platform, but it’s safe to say this is a fairly substantial update. That’s not particularly surprising, considering the remaster overhauls the game with new features, visual improvements, and various quality-of-life additions. Steam players should also keep in mind that the download size may vary depending on their installed language packs.
They haven’t shared the estimated size for the GOG or Epic Games Store versions, however, so we’ll have to wait for more information. That said, I wouldn’t expect the file size to differ significantly from the Steam version. The updated PC system requirements list 70 GB of required storage space, so the final installation size should be around that mark once the new patch is applied, at least on PC.
Oh, and rest assured, this is a regular update, so you won’t need to reinstall the entire game, and there is no preload for the update for existing owners. Just make sure you have enough free space available for the download. If you’ve bought it on the Nintendo Switch 2, however, you can preload it right now since it’s a new release for that platform.
