Tears of the Kingdom's shocking early sales numbers revealed

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came into the year with sky-high expectations in terms of both critical reception and commercial success. Following the 2017 game-of-the-year-winning Breath of the Wild, which sold approximately 30 million copies, as well as the many prior The Legend of Zelda classics dating back to the series’ inception in 1986, Tears of the Kingdom was arguably the most highly anticipated game in an extremely competitive slate of 2023 releases.
