Nintendo knows how to make great platform games based on Mario and Donkey Kong Country. Now both of these franchises will arrive on Wii U later this year.
In Super Mario 3D World for Wii U, Mario will be joined by up to three other players – Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach – who bring new abilities to the game, as they once did with Super Mario Bros. 2 on the NES. Mario also has the ability to use a new Cat Suit, which lets him pounce on enemies and climb up walls and poles with ease. A new orange Yoshi is also being introduced, along with the new Kuribo’s Skates.
If Mario isn’t your thing, check out Donkey Kong. Retro Studios’ Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is also Wii U bound, as the big ape and his friends Diddy and Dixie Kong take on a band of mischievous vikings. Featuring intricate stage designs, a new dynamic camera and hours’ worth of bonus rooms to uncover, Tropical Freeze could be the best Donkey Kong yet – even eclipsing the recently released 3DS version.
Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will debut near the end of 2013.
