Classic game Spy Vs. Spy will be coming to iOS devices sometime this summer, publisher DC Entertainment has revealed.
The game, developed by Robots and Pencils Inc. in association with First Star Software, the studio originally responsible, is poised to bring back “action, humor, challenges and fisticuffs” that so many enjoyed in its various incarnations since 1984.
The game is no stranger to a new platform, indeed it has been released on the Apple II, Atari 400/800 and Commodore 64 before being ported on the NES, Sega Master System, Game Boy and other platforms.
The game was originally based on a series of Mad Magazine comics, a split-screen game of espionage that pits two players against each other in a challenge to gather items. In order to beat the other player, it’s possible to lay traps in locations for them to bump into.
The new version of the game will feature all the eight embassies from the original game along with 16 new ones. The graphics and sounds have been updated but you’ll also have the option to play with the original 8-bit visuals.
Spy Vs Spy iOS edition boasts online and local multiplayer and GameCenter leaderboards and achievements.
