Today, 1047, the developers of the newly popular game Splitgate have announced that it is delaying the official launch of the game
Splitgate Official Launch Delayed To August, Big Update Coming Tomorrow
After receiving an influx of over 2 million players in just two weeks, the developers have been fighting server problems trying to keep up with the flood of players. While this is a good problem to have, especially for a multiplayer-centric game, 1047 has decided it needs a little more time to iron out some of the issues so it can make the game in the best possible state.
Splitgate will now officially launch sometime in August as opposed to its initial July 27 release date.
Here’s a statement from a release given to the press about what players can expect from the pre-release update scheduled for tomorrow.
“Tuesday’s pre-release beta version will feature the three new maps, and all-new customization options. It will also include many frequently requested features from its open beta, including mouse and keyboard support and an FOV slider on console, and customizable controller layouts.”
The team also received additional investment money to help mitigate these isuees.
CEO and CO-Founder Ian Proulx said
“That’s why we’re excited for Human Capital to lead this latest funding round. In addition to providing capital necessary to increase server capacity and stability, they’ll help build the engineering team we need to create the best possible game for our players.”
