It’s looking likely that the next edition of the Splinter Cell franchise will be titled Splinter Cell: Conviction.
There’s been nothing yet from Ubisoft on the issue, who are aware of the fact that rumors are floating around but have declined to comment, hinting only that they might reveal a little more at Ubidays, their forthcoming Parisian press conference.
We noticed news of the new name on Kotaku, who had published a page from Pelaaja-magazine, which also revealed Sam Fisher will be a fugitive in the upcoming sneak-em-up.
We’ve heard similar whistles in the wind from various other sources, who’ve been throwing the name “Splinter Cell: Conviction” around for a little while, also hinting that Sam will be on the run in this title.
It’s been stated by Microsoft that the game will be console exclusive on Xbox 360, which we think probably means there’ll also be a PC release, but most likely not a PS3 one.
In other Ubisoft/Tom Clancy news; the publisher have just announced another Clancy IP entitled Endwar, a strategy game set to include various gameplay features from previous releases in the franchise.
We’re sure that there’ll be loads more at the UbiDays press conference in Paris, which is happening on 22nd and 23rd May. Keep checking back here at Prima and we’ll keep you in the know.
