Saying it’s hard to get a PlayStation 5 is like saying water is wet. Fortunately, Sony is aware of this and are working to try and make holiday PS5 shopping easier.

To do this, they’re opening up a registration system for the holiday season that will allow people to register to purchase a PS5 console directly from PlayStation.

Obviously not everyone who registers will be able to get their hands on a PS5, but hey, it’s worth a shot!

Sony Opens Holiday Registration For PS5 Purchases

On the PlayStation website, information about a registration system for PS5 purchases was shared. According to Sony, there will be a limited number of PS5 consoles available for customers in the United States to purchase directly from PlayStation.

To keep things organized and civil, you’ll need to register for your chance to purchase a PS5. Note that not everyone who registers will be selected.

“This coming Holiday season, we will have a limited amount of PS5 Consoles available for customers in the US to purchase direct from PlayStation,” the website reads.

“If you are interested in receiving an invitation, register below. If selected, we will contact you via email with instructions and details. To learn more about the PS5 console invite order process, read the FAQs below.”

Digging into the FAQs, questions like who will be selected and when invitations will start to go out are answered. According to PlayStation, people will be selected “based on previous interests and PlayStation activities” and those who register will begin receiving invitations starting this November.

“If you are selected, we will contact you via email with the date, time, and instructions for purchasing a PS5 console. If you do not receive an email, you were not selected.”

Additionally, even if you are selected and receive an invitation, an invitation does not guarantee that you’ll be able to purchase and receive a PS5 as quantities are limited and each invitation is only available for a limited time.

Those who receive an invitation can only purchase one PS5 console, whether that be the version with the disc or the Digital Edition.

You’re also limited in how many accessories you can purchase, with those receiving invitations allowed to purchase 2 DualSense wireless controllers (Bundles, Cosmic Red, Midnight Black), 3 DualSense controllers (White), 1 PS5 Media Remote, and 1 PULSE 3D wireless headset.

If you live in the US and want to register for a chance to be invited to purchase a PS5 directly from PlayStation, click here. After hearing that Sony is allowing people to register for a chance to purchase a PS5, what are your thoughts? Are you planning to register?
