In an effort to create server space for more popular games, Sony Computer Entertainment of America has announced that it will be shutting down online servers for three past releases over the PlayStation Network. The games will still be playable on a single player front (and local multiplayer, if supported), but online games will be a thing of the past for these titles.
Perhaps the most major of the three is Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Evolution Studios’ popular racing sequel that has you racing around a tropical island through a variety of muddy courses. The game has been a big hit for the past couple of years, but has been surpassed by last year’s release of the much more exciting Motorstorm Apocalypse.
The other two games are Motorstorm: Arctic Edge for PSP, the portable sequel to the racing series, and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3, a popular military shooter on the PSP front. (Considering the game isn’t available for Vita yet, it’s not really a surprise the online servers are shutting down.)
So if you want to get your online sessions in, now’s probably the best time to do so…
